The project is mainly focused on three notably divergent cases – the Sweden Democrats, the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE) and the Vox party in Spain – but also aims to provide a broader empirical and theoretical perspective. We aim to understand both the supply and demand side perspective on their changing relationship with supporters from atypical groups.
Our team, based at Tallinn University, Estonia, comprises of project PI Mari-Liis Jakobson, associate professor of political sociology, postdoctoral researcher Sebastian Umpierrez de Reguero, junior researcher Marina Vahter, research assistant Anastassia Tuuder, and associate professor of comparative politics, Tõnis Saarts.
